As we gain experience with Web, our thinking about its function in relation to other delivery media has evolved. Our goal is to deliver all text we intend to publish through the Web. This has greatly expanded our idea of what we can economically publish. Also it has changed our thinking about what we think users can practically use. Because of the searching capabilities of our menus, it becomes feasible to deliver a very large amount of text, knowing that the user will be able to retrieve only what they want.
At this point the issue for IRM is whether a document or set of information will be delivered through the Web and another medium. The alternatives are:
