The 2014 CU Shared Practice award winners were announced at the annual CUSP Expo held at system administration offices on Friday, June 13th. Competition for the awards was fierce this year, with a record nineteen submissions up for consideration, but after the dust had settled, the following individuals and/or teams took home the CUSP cash:
The University Controller’s Prize for Excellence went to E-Storage for Research Administration – This eleven-member team from the Boulder campus implemented process improvements to vastly reduce paperwork transmittal and storage of files for sponsored project administration. By going paperless, and converting to electronic routing and storage, they saw an immediate 50% reduction in expenses – plus, they can now process awards and track proposals more efficiently.
Splitting the $1500 award were team leaders Steve Sheldon, Melissa Englund, Garrett Steed, and Roger McCormick, as well as team members James Uhes, Stefanie Furman, Beth Kingsley, Sharon DeCarlo, Justin Mack, Andy Wang and Bev Baran. Kudos to all who worked on this very important project!
Not to be outdone, four additional $1,000 awards went to:
- Layna Breyare, from the Office of Associate Vice Chancellor for Administration-Anschutz Medical Campus, for creating the CU Denver Events Management System.
- Travis Chillemi from the Office of University Controller for the Annual Financial Reporting Online.
- Charlene Lydick, Amy Gannon, Kaye Stewart-Hicks, Elizabeth Bentley, Carolyn DeTemple, and Pamela Andrade, from the Procurement Service Center, for APInvoice@cu.edu.
- Jenny Shao, Rebekah Martino, and Chris Zetterholm, from Accounting and Business Support on the Boulder campus, for their Expense Clearing Training Videos.
